I am challenged to reveal all that is hidden in my heart and to clean it out, fill it with more trust and faith.

Hi.  I am Wilmien Davis and I am here to Motivate, Inspire and help you to Grow in your journey to find your Purpose, Unlock your Potential with Passion.

We need to be free, free from all our bondages and one of the things that is holding us back are the temptations in life. Jesus was tempted to turn stones into bread to satisfy his desire of the flesh. He resisted by quoting scripture that man will live from every word God. He loved God with all his heart and received the reward of angels ministering to him. In this series we will investigate matters of the heart and turn our hearts back to God, loving God with all our hearts, which will free us from the bondage temptations and desires of the flesh has on us.  To become truly free.

The heart, the word kardia, means inner man, character, nowhere in the Bible where it is mentioned does it refer to your literal heart, it always refer to  your thoughts and feelings, the centre of your being. Even though the first temptation of Jesus has to do with matters of physical temptations, temptations to do with the body, it actually starts with your thoughts or feelings.  Many times we are trying to hide our temptations, our thoughts and feelings, but we can only hide it form humans. We are fooled if we think we can hide it from God.  We need to love Him with all our heart, He knows if part of our heart is ‘’taken’’ up by thoughts of temptations.

Loving God with all our heart, means we need to be able to ‘feel’ Him, to ‘think’ about Him.  Our thoughts and our feelings must be totally immersed in Him.  Having worries about the past or future consume our minds and hearts so that we focus on those rather than on God.  I know, I am struggling with that and that I need to constantly renew my mind.

God knows our hearts already.

Romans 8:27

And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God

Luk 9:47

But Jesus, knowing the thoughts of their hearts, had a little child stand beside him.

Rev 2:23

Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.

1 Cor 14:24-25

But if an unbeliever or uninstructed person comes in while everyone is prophesying, he will be convicted and called to account by all, and the secrets of his heart will be revealed. So he will fall face down and worship God, proclaiming “God is truly among you!”

Whenever the secrets of the heart is revealed, God gets the glory whether it is good secrets or bad. It must come into the light.  We are sometimes so worried about the shame on our heads, but when the truth of our hearts are revealed, I believe the Glory of God outshines the shame we feel in our hearts. God does not want to shame you, He wants to set you free.  While the temptation or anything else is in your heart, you feel shameful about it in any way, the shame will not be more when others know.  Shame will be turned into Glory.

After Jesus said you cannot serve both God and money

Luk 16:14, 15

The Pharisees who were lovers of many, heard all of this and were scoffing at Jesus

So He said to them

“You are the ones who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts, for what is prized among men is detestable before God.”

We are sometimes so worried about what people will say and less worried about what God already knows.

Mat 6:21

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Just after Jesus was born, his parents took Him to the temple.  Simeon saw him and proclaimed the following of Him:

Luk 2:35

As a result of the deepest thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your very soul.

Even as a baby, God revealed that Jesus was sent to know people’s hearts and to bring everything out and reveal it so that it can be moved.  If you are keeping secrets hidden, the Truth cannot reach it.  You cannot try to bring Truth into darkness.  It is difficult, but the more you are vulnerable and reveal things in your heart to come out in the open, the quicker healing can take place.  I have seen this over and over again in my own life and I have seen it over and over again with people I am coaching.  People are so scared to be judged.  They are so scared of the sword that will pierce their souls, but I have seen that NOT revealing things are like having small daggers that day in and day out make small painful marks in your heart.  Revealing the truth, which God already knows, can feel like a once off pierce in the soul, it is difficult, but the freedom that comes with that is amazing. And with the freedom, comes the Spirit.

1 Cor 4:5

Therefore, judge nothing before the proper time, wait until the LORD comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men’s hearts. At that time each will receive his praise from God.

Acts 15:8,9 (Gentiles and Jews)

And God, who knows the heart, showed His approval by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He made no distinction between us and them, for he cleansed their hearts by faith.

Our gift of cleaning our hearts is the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit continues its cleaning job as we are opening more and more parts of our hearts.  As soon as our hearts are cleansed, God can have more real estate in your heart.

Just after temptations, Jesus went to the temple, they handed him the scroll of Isaiah 61 and he read the first two verses.

Luk 4:18

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the broken-hearted and to proclaim that captives will be released.

Luk 24:25

Then Jesus said to them: O foolish ones, how slow are your hearts to believe all the prophets have spoken.

If you look at all the prophesies that were spoken of Jesus and how ALL of them came to be true on earth, but still the people did not want to believe in their hearts.  Are there parts in your heart that you do not believe in the promises of the Bible?  That you struggle to believe He can supply the needs of your family?  I thought leaving my corporate job was my big test of faith that God can provide, which I believe He did, but the next text of faith came when my business have not been able to provide sufficiently in our needs and my husband heard that his salary will almost be halved.  God has revealed a new chamber in my heart that was not filled with faith yet, that had to come out in the open, laid bare in the truth and washed clean with the Spirit. Now I am one step closer to real freedom, to more faith, to more of Him in my life and less worry about what I cannot control. If I really believe He is sovereign over all the earth, it includes money.  It shows He has the keys to unlock it if He chooses, I need to believe that and believe He will have the right timing and the right amount for my needs and my character building.

Final thoughts

God knows the thoughts and feelings in your heart – you cannot hide it from Him.

Your heart’s desires must be brought into the light, it will feel like a sword pierces your heart, but it is better than many small daggers hurting you daily

Cleaning up your heart allows for the Spirit to fill more parts and you to love God more intensely.

Cleaning up your heart washes away worries and strengthens faith.

May the LORD bless you and keep you.

May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you

May He turn His face toward you and give you peace.
